Hi, it's me. Yes, it has been a looong while. Having two kids has REALLY put a crimp in my blogging style.
So, why am I blogging now?? We had quite a blog worthy event that happened on Sunday. After all, it's not every day that your 3-yr. old has her first ballet recital. It was a crazy day. I mean, really crazy. Thought I would rehash the day to show you the kind of chaos we are living in at the moment.
Timeline
2:00 pm - Bill searches house for video camera cord to charge. V. important to have camera charged for recital
2:10 pm - Begin to get little ballerina ready and get the hair ready.
2:15 pm - Bill sets video camera on back of couch (a.k.a. questionable location) and loads Ivy into carseat. Ivy is screaming.
2:20 pm - Liz gathers all of the necessary items for recital. Bill yells, "Do you have the camera?" Hard to hear over Ivy's screams. Liz yells back, "Yes, got it." Meanwhile, video camera unknowingly falls behind couch cushions.
2:30 - 2:40 pm - Get lollygagging ballerina and baby in car. Leave house.
2:55 pm - Merging on to the 170 to get to North Hollywood. Bills asks, "Is the video camera in your purse?" Liz snaps back, "NO, I thought you had it!!! You were responsible for the video camera." Bill replies, "But you told me you had it!!" Other yelling and unpleasantries ensue. Annabelle gets upset.
No time to turnaround since almost at destination.
3:00 pm - Liz makes panicked phone call to Ellen to see if she has a camcorder. She does. It's the VHS kind, but hey, it'll do. Ellen makes bat turn after leaving Coffee Bean and heads home to find said camcorder.
3:03 pm - Bill drops Liz & Annabelle off in front of school where recital is being held. Annabelle dumps her cup on Liz's camera. Camera appears to still be working.
3:10 pm - Bill finds parking and pushes Ivy in stroller to school.
3:12 pm - Annabelle sees her dad walking down to streets. Says, "I'm going to run to da-da!" She sprints towards Bill and foot catches on a tree root. Catapults and lands face forward in dirt. Annabelle is wearing ALL white. White leotard and white tights have stains. She is screaming bloody murder. Random lady helps and hands a stack of wet wipes. Dirt not coming off. Also, Annabelle's fancy braided bun has come undone. She is a mess, but thankfully not hurt. Liz begins simultaneous fit of crying and laughing.
3:15 pm - Annabelle calm and ready to enter auditorium. Stains do not appear to bother her. Whew! As they say, the show MUST go on....
3:30 pm - Seated and ready to start show. Ivy begins to fuss. Of course.
3:32 pm - Auntie Ellen arrives with camcorder. Bill says, "Ellen, I think you just saved my marriage."
4:15 pm - Annabelle finally performs. See video here. She loves every minute of it.
4:25 pm - Decide that Ivy has had enough. (She did fuss the entire recital). Leave the show.
4:30 pm - Annabelle has meltdown in front of school. Does not want to leave. Says, "she wants to play in the dirt outside." Why not get more dirty, right??
4:40 pm - Trek all the way to car. Annabelle says, "I'm going pee pee" as she is being loaded into carseat tutu and all. "NO!!," Liz cries. Too crazy to go all the way back to school. Strip her down naked in front of someone's yard and pees behind car. V. redneck.
4:46 pm - Driving away. Annabelle says, "Next time, I want to do karate."
Well, maybe our "rough and tumble ballerina" IS more of a karate girl? TBD.
